I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a 2nd concentration in psychology from North Carolina A&T State University, then went on to receive a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regent University.
Being a teacher for 16 years, I have a special place in my heart for educators. I know the stress, wild expectations, unreasonable requirements and societal pressure all while not being paid your worth. These things are hard to manage alone, but if you include personal battles with anxiety, depression, low self worth and the like- it can make life and a career you love even more difficult.
I have experience using Brainspotting, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, strength-based therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I use these modalities to help people find their light, see why they are stuck, be free from past issues, and challenge negative thoughts. I believe in giving people the proper mindset and practical tools to navigate life’s many challenges. I pride myself on being intuitive and empathetic, all while offering and bringing enlightenment to different perspectives. I help those dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-worth, rejection, and abandonment find and resolve the root of their issue. I offer a 100% judgment-free counseling experience. In my spare time, I love to travel, write and sing.
In the intricate tapestry of human experience, trauma, whether big or small, weaves its way into the very fabric of our being. It can manifest in the aftermath of an intense event or quietly linger from the subtle wounds of prolonged distress. As a counselor, I understand the profound impact that trauma, both "BIG T" and "little t," can have on one's life. Brainspotting emerges as a powerful therapeutic tool, capable of delving into the depths of these experiences, unraveling their grip on our minds.
Picture trauma as a resonance that reverberates too much, too fast, or lingers too long in the corridors of our consciousness. Brainspotting offers a unique approach to healing, enabling individuals to confront and release the residual effects of their past. Whether the trauma stems from a singular life-altering event, the nuanced challenges of upbringing, or seemingly minor disruptions like a breakup or interpersonal conflicts, brainspotting illuminates a path toward recovery.
By pinpointing the neural sites where these experiences are stored, brainspotting gently guides the mind toward resolution. This transformative process acts as a balm, removing the sting from memories that once held power over our emotional well-being. The result is a journey toward becoming the best version of oneself, unburdened by the weight of the past. In the safe and empathetic space of counseling, brainspotting opens the door to healing, allowing individuals to reclaim their narrative and embark on a trajectory toward personal growth and resilience.
